Solo Performance Workshop with Jibz Cameron / Dynasty Handbag
I am so excited to share with you my first ever comprehensive program on writing and developing solo performance.
Upon completion of this 6 week program you will have a new performance piece! Or at least an idea of two. Or at the very least, a fun time hanging out with me and making connections with other creatives.
WHATS IN IT?
Each meet up will include writing prompts and a topic of discussion - technique, balancing chaos and structure, using humor in your work, and much much more. There will also be exploration around producing your own events, creating with limited resources/access, and sharing your work beyond a live performance context (peers/programmers/strangers).
We will also explore:
Why make performance?
Practical performance prep tools
Documentation
Applying for funding
Getting support other than the monetary kind
Setting up a show
Best practices (manners)
Working with friends, zoiks!
🔌 Meetings will include 1 hour of workshop with Jibz, followed by a 15 min Q + A, and 45-minute co-working* session. Co-working is optional (but also lifechanging). There will also be the option to join an accountability pod or twod for the duration of the program. Optional but also optimal!
No experience necessary. This is for anyone who has a performance bubbling inside them that needs a hand guiding it out of its clamshell - (comedy, performance art, music, dance, anything live) you do not have to have an active performance life or art practice.

About me:
I have been making solo performance work since 2001. I have an undergrad degree from San Francisco Art Institute and certificate of completion of advanced Acting Program from American Conservatory Theater. I have been in several trashy punk bands and in dozens of short films and web series that never saw the light of day. In 2019 I sold a TV show to FX. I have taught theater and performance at NYU, Cal-Arts and PRATT and lectured internationally. I grew up going to a performing arts summercamp as a child and learned improv from the activist clown and Woodstock MC, Wavy Gravy. Which explains alot. I have been curating and hosting Weirdo Night since 2016 in Los Angeles and NYC. I am sober and gayyyyyyy.
