Description

A SHIP IN THE WOODS presents a day-long event of music, performance, experimental sound, and art to benefit the expansion of its artist-residency program to now include musicians. We are excited to present a stellar lineup of musical acts throughout the day on our studio/stage in the driveway, culminating with a special performance by artist Dynasty Handbag. Guests are invited to come meander through the wooded walking trails and experience experimental sound art installations and performances within the 2 acre oak grove. Open Oscillator will also be setting up a 4 hours session of their favorite electronic musicians, vintage synth enthusiasts, and sound creators. All funds will directly support our mission to continue providing a sanctuary for artists in North County San Diego.

RESIDENCY PROGRAMS
A SHIP IN THE WOODS Residency is a program for artists, musicians, writers, researchers, and other cultural innovators. Participants will have an opportunity to advance their work and are encouraged to engage with the community through their discipline. The Music Residency is a 2-week residency launching this Fall (2019) for artists looking to either start or complete a project, with 24/7 access to a production studio. In 2016 we received a grant from the County of San Diego to support the construction of a music studio, this benefit will help raise funds to complete the construction of the studio, which will include soundproofing, instruments, and recording equipment. We have invited Portland based singer, song-writer and producer Amenta Abioto to be our first music residency participant.
